Shannon Fisher is the fisheries populations monitoring and regulations manager for the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources. He shares an update with Paddle and Portage about the start date of the ice fishing season in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. During the 2024 legislative session, state law was changed to move the start date for the ice fishing season to Jan. 1.
