Wildfire Shuts Down Highway 61 Near Two Harbors

A wildfire is burning along Highway 61 near Two Harbors. The fire is torching in the trees with 50 to 60 ft. flame lengths, according to the manager of operations for what is being called the Stewart Trail Fire in Lake County.
The fire spotted over Highway 61 just after 3 p.m., according to officials on scene. Structures are being impacted along Highway 61 as a result of the fire.
If you are on your way to the Boundary Waters this weekend, be mindful of this wildfire while traveling to places like the Sawbill Trail or the Gunflint Trail. This fire may cause delays in traffic on Hwy 61.
Fire danger is very high or extreme across the BWCA Wilderness at this time.
