Hudson Bay Girls and Solitude of Four Complete Journeys to Far North

By Joe Friedrichs
The other four started at Seagull Lake, at the end of the Gunflint Trail.
More than two months later, their journeys ended here, at the same spot, at essentially the same time.
Both the Hudson Bay Girls and Solitude of Four completed their journeys from the Boundary Waters region to Hudson Bay this week.
Paddle and Portage followed both of these adventures from start to finish. As fate would have it, they finished at nearly the same time, and were traveling south together Thursday night (Aug. 14) from York Factory to Gillam, Manitoba. Motorized transportation took over for paddling as they started their journey home. A train to Winnipeg is on the docket soon.
We’ll have much more on the final stages of these trips coming soon on the Paddle and Portage Podcast. Until then, learn more about the Hudson Bay Girls here and the Solitude of Four here.
This video is the start of the Hudson Bay Girls trip from Memorial Day weekend.
