August 25, 2026

Erin Walker is a frequent contributor to Paddle and Portage media. She also appears regularly on the ‪Lost Lakes YouTube channel.

In this update from the shoreline of Lake Superior, Erin talks with Joe from the Paddle & Portage Podcast about a grizzly bear encounter her and Jon had this summer along the Dubawnt River in the Northwest Territories.

Erin also shares an update on a new series of the Paddle & Portage Podcast she is launching this fall and that will continue in 2027 called “Women in Paddling.” The video podcasts will be hosted by Erin and feature women paddlers from across North America.

Erin and Kate from Bending Branches Canoe & Kayak Paddles came up with the idea for the new podcast series together, and the content will be posted on this channel and on the Paddle & Portage Podcast audio threads on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and most other podcast platforms.

Video of Erin and Joe discussing these topics and more in the video below.
