What to Know About Filming and Photography in the BWCA Wilderness

    Bryan Hansel is a photographer who lives near Grand Marais.

    Hansel has long sought clarity on rules and regulations regarding filming, photography, and other media use in wilderness areas across the country, including the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

    On June 18, Hansel got his answer.

    Filming, photography and sound recording is allowed under new guidelines the national press desk for the Forest Service shared with Hansel. This news follows a podcast we made with Hansel after the passage of landmark legislation known as the EXPLORE Act.
